The search for a path that sticks

Searching for a new job hasn’t been fruitful so far. It’s been about two weeks. I’ve had a few recruiter calls and a few rejection emails. I seem to be having trouble getting past the initial screen. Today I had my first experience of an AI interview, and it turns out that I’m not great at one-sided conversations.
It could be that I’m going about it the wrong way. The world has changed quite a bit over the past few years, and I’ve changed too. I’m not looking to recreate what I had before, so I know that will mean taking new approaches.
The typical approach is some combination of searching job boards, reaching out to my network, and saying yes to opportunities that come my way. But this time, I’m also opening myself up to new pathways. I’m expanding into contracting work, which means putting my name out to agencies as a contractor, and I’m in the process of incorporating. I like the idea of running my own business. It scares me a little, but in an exciting way.
I’m trusting that at a certain point, something will stick. Something will progress. For now, I’m putting one foot in front of the other, putting myself out there, and adjusting course as I learn more.
And for now, I’m proud of myself. I’ve been asking for help. I know I could do it more. But I’m showing growth in acknowledging that I don’t have to go at this alone.
