Releasing a chapter

This morning I officially signed my release papers. Today is a day of release and closure.
It’s Monday, and I have felt a bit out of sorts in terms of not knowing exactly what to do with myself. I am used to having a full day of meetings and expectations. I have so much space in front of me, so many possibilities, and that can sometimes be my kryptonite.
I sat with the feeling. I decided I would journal about it.
I swear it took about 3 lines of writing before I had a way forward.
This chapter of my life, I am focusing on cultivating my ideal days.
So, how do I do that?
Well, I am taking action on the ideals that I’ve always dreamed of. I have the space and the time to do so.
Going with the flow
A musing I’ve had for a long, long time is about scheduling my weeks in a way that honours the natural flow of the energy.
As a woman, I am affected by the moon. I am affected by my own cycle.
As a living being, I am affected by the planets.
I have created a weekly routine that pulls information about the planets for the week as it relates to my chart, and then creates a weekly outline based on what I deem my priorities at the time.
I will test it for a bit to see how to make it more useful. I have plans to connect it to my calendar, to my cycle tracking app and potentially Notion as those are my sources for storing information.
Ideally, after a period of time of using this approach I have proof that it improves quality of life and then I can share it with others.
Letting go
Release seems to be the theme of the day. As part of this idea that came from my journal time, I also realized that my time using ChatGPT is coming to an end. Since AI chatbots became a thing, I have been using ChatGPT. It’s not the best in terms of company ethics, but since I have so much information in there I have been continuing to keep it around.
Claude is what I use for development work. I think Claude has the best ethical stance in the space. In my full-time-job-holder life, Claude use was exclusively on my work laptop. I have boundaries for how much computer time I will allow.
In this new chapter, I am re-creating my Claude workflows for myself. I am exploring ways that I can improve my own life with AI tooling instead of it simply being reserved for my company.
Doing things differently
This isn’t my first layoff. This isn’t my first time getting to the point with a company that I question whether it’s a values fit.
Instead of rushing into re-creating an experience that leave me feeling restless, I am taking the space to bring in all of me. This morning, all this open space felt like my kryptonite. After journaling, it feels more like room to do things differently.
My goal for this chapter is to create work opportunities that fit well into my life, and so I am going to continue to pull that thread. One step at a time.
To get to a place you haven’t been, you must do things you haven’t done.
